I want to share my passion and excitement about good oral health with all of the patients I have the pleasure to serve.

She continued on at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1998. Dr. Wellener was the recipient of the Joseph D. Gage award, presented to the student exemplifying the highest level of humanitarian ideals. She also received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence, as well as the Student Council Service Award all four years. Following dental school, she furthered her education in a residency program at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Wellener was previously in private practice in Cleveland for nine years. She continues to hold a part-time faculty appointment at CWRU School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Wellener regularly attends post-graduate continuing education courses every year, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Sandhills Dental Study Club, and the Sandhills Symposium. She enjoys exploring the Sandhills area with her husband, Andy, and their three children.

Dr. Larry E. Baucom

What I love about dentistry is helping people. I feel so fortunate to be able to have come to know so many wonderful people over my career; first as patients then as friends.

Born in Wilmington, NC, Dr. Baucom grew up in Charlotte, NC. He attended Davidson College for his undergraduate studies and went on to the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1968. After dental school, Dr. Baucom served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps for 4 years. He started in private practice in Charlotte and after several years relocated to the Sandhills in 1978. He stays current in advances in the world of dentistry through continuing education courses, participation in the Sandhills Dental Study Club, and as a member of the American Dental Association and North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Baucom and his wife of 40-years, Candace, have two grown children and three grandchildren. They enjoy travel, particularly to the Caribbean and West Coast, and as much as possible to our Coast.

Dr. P. Ray Chavis

I feel very fortunate to have found Wellener Dental where they share my passion for outstanding patient care and compassionate customer service.

Dr. Chavis graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1980. He has been an active member in organized dentistry his entire career. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society and the Fourth District Dental Society.
